SLCounty Fair - 08/06/09

Thursday we picked Papa up from work and went to the SL County Fair. Our original plan was to make it in time to see the horse vaulting (gymnastics on horses). It looked way cool. But because it was super windy that day & that particular thing was to be held outside they canceled it. But we had a great time anyway.
That had this free petting zoo area - pretty much it was a large cage with all sorts of animals, ponies, goats, sheep, turtles, rabbits all running around with little children. Or maybe I should say running away from the little children...or trying to.
Taryn loved it. This goat walked right up to her and she gave it a big hug.
This bunny was hiding out - I don't really blame it.

You can see how windy it was in this picture - we just about got blown away. Taryn loved the turtles or tortoises...one just sat there I am not sure if it was even still alive. Another one was really speedy for a turtle and kept running away when we got close.

Taryn on the pony ride - the pony operator was amazed at how comfortable she was on the pony.

We went inside when the wind just got to be too much. They had lots of little games for the kids to play. This one you throw the bean bag at the barn animals and knock them over to get a prize. The lady showed Taryn a few times - so Taryn grabbed a bean bag walked right up to the animal and knocked it over and left the bean bag on top. Maybe she thought throwing was wasted energy. ;) She loved the prize it was a pen with a big squishy pig that lights up on top - she loves animals, pens & flashlights...what could be better.
